What are leiyomyoma?

These names are the same to describe the most common uterine growths. They are  not cancerous except rare conditions however fibroids are the major cause behind removal of the uterus called hysterectomy.

Fibroids are the most common growths in a woman's reproductive system.

Fibroids or myomas (leiomyoma in medical terminology) are well-circumscribed tumours that grow on the outside, inside or within the smooth muscle in the wall of the womb (uterus).
Other names for these tumors include

  • fibromyomas

  • fibromas

  • myofibromas

  • myomas
